You need Christian friends
Life can be challenging. The highs, lows and uncertainties can be too much to bear without friends and companions around us. That’s why God created life to function and exist in communities. We all need each other. Having friends is important for us all as we’re created to rely on one another in various ways. As Christians, we need other believers around us to help us when the going gets tough. Have you stopped and asked why having Christian friends, is so significant?
Fighting the battle with you
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world,” John 16:33.
In life, we’re going to face trials and battles that we can’t face alone. God places friends in our lives to help us to fight those trials and battles that we may go through. Friends can come and share in your pain, intercede with you or on your behalf when your spirit is low. No matter what comes our way, we can “take heart” because Jesus has overcome the world. It’s a blessing to have friends that can remind you of God’s word when you need to hear it the most.
Fighting the battle alongside you
Sometimes it’s hard for us to look at ourselves and see our faults. We can struggle to pick up on our mistakes or bad habits. Christian friends can help you by correcting you, out of love. No one likes to hear criticisms or points of error about themselves, but it’s those friends that can tell us the truth that help us to become better people in the long run.
“Better an open rebuke than love that is concealed. The wounds of a friend are faithful, but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.” Proverbs 27:6

Fighting the battle for you
We’ve all been in positions where we’ve given up. We accept that we’ve lost the fight, or in certain times we can start to doubt God’s ability to come through for us. Having that friend that will gladly fight the battle for you in those times is crucial. This can happen through them praying for you, fasting for you, or even seeking advice on how best to deal with any issue you are going through.

So, what’s the point I’m trying to make here? Christian friendship is so significant in your journey with God. Friends are very purposeful for your walk, not only to have as a companion but to fight with you, alongside you and for you. I would say to consult God about the type of friend you should be towards someone, but also for the type of friends that he should place in your life!
