Walking in faith without doubt

It’s quite easy to throw our hands in the air and give glory to God when we feel full of faith, but how do we feel when our faith gets shaken? Or when doubt creeps in? How do we really walk in faith without doubt?

We all go through tough situations and have uncertain moments but if we’re not careful we can allow doubt to take root in our lives.

Paul instructs us to put on the full armour of God and above all take the shield of faith so that we can extinguish the flaming arrows of the evil one.

“Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” Ephesians 6:13

As Christians we must put our faith in God and His promises, despite what we might be facing in our own lives.

How can I walk in faith without doubt?

Personally, when I feel doubtful, I try to remind myself of all the situations I’ve been in where things looked like they were going downhill, but despite this God always came through for me.

I remind myself of biblical truth and the realisation that I am not in this alone. Regardless of how we feel or what’s going on around us we have to actively choose to hold onto God’s promises and fix  our eyes on things above.

It’s not easy, life is hard, but God rides for us. He is with us through the highs and the lows, he will never leave nor forsake us.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

I’m sure we all had prayers and hopes for this new year but because of unprecedented circumstances we find ourselves in, we may feel like we need to put those prayers on the back burner.

We need to remember that the same God we prayed to last year when we felt full of faith is the same God now. He is in the midst of it all, through Covid-19 and our own personal dilemmas.

Let us not be consumed by our own thoughts but rather set our eyes on God for he is greater than it all. Always remember God is still in control.

Take back your prayers and believe that all things are possible with God.

"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see" Hebrews 11:1

How do you overcome doubt and hold on to your faith when times get tough?
