Guest Blog: Living For Purpose - with Eyula
Humans are hardwired for purpose. We’ll search for our purpose in our friends, family, careers, degrees and possessions but we’re left hungrier, thirstier, needier than before. It’s like trying to find a needle in a haystack. We need something to give our lives meaning, and only Jesus can give us what we’re really looking for.
Eyula, Founder of “IAMBECAUSEHEIS” joins us at Femelle Soul to discuss the importance of living a life of purpose and passion for God.
What are we here for?
Growing up, I remember being so confused and fearful whenever I thought about life. I questioned if there was really any point of it all and I was really searching for meaning.
When God found me, He begun to open my eyes and show me that all I was looking for could be found in Him. That ‘thing’ I’d been searching for is the universal purpose of mankind: to worship God and display His glory.
How can we live a life with purpose?
For us to live out our purpose in Christ, we have to give ourselves over to Him fully.
My journey truly begun when I allowed God to start working in me, delivering me from deep resentment, anger, sexual sin and so much more.
The reality is though, often times, people reject God’s invite to this freedom and are stuck searching for purpose in the wrong things.
But once we let God change us into new creations through salvation, He gives us a new heart that wants to worship Him through good works, out of pure love for Him.
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” (Ephesians 2:10).
After being saved for some time, I remember feeling like God was calling me to encourage people, teaching them about the love of Jesus Christ. So, I started my first platform, “Becoming More Like God”. I had such a deep desire to do something for God, but God revealed to me that I wasn’t ready to carry out such a platform. I felt like I’d made the platform to make Him love me more. Crazy, right? As if I could do something, anything that increases or decreases God’s love for me. God started teaching me that His love isn’t dependent on my own actions, but instead, it’s dependent on His very own identity, which never changes.
I realised the extent of His love by going to a Fellowship called “The Grace Platform”. I decided to take time out to know my Father and be intimate with Him by reading His Word.
Starting IAMBECAUSEHEIS
I launched “IAMBECAUSEHEIS” after God showed me a revelation in Exodus 3:14.
“And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ” Exodus 3:14 NKJV
God showed me that “I AM” is one of God’s names, and we address Him by saying “I AM XYZ”
When Christians do not understand their identity in Christ or the fullness of His love (just like how I didn’t) they tend to focus on religious practices instead of focusing the One that matters above all (just like I was!).
Before diving in, I made sure that I fully surrendered IAMBECAUSEHEIS to God by 21 days of fasting and prayer in January. I’m so grateful for First Love’s Prayer Flow Meetings, they completely transformed my prayer life. I made Jesus the Chief Cornerstone of IAMBECAUSEHEIS through this time of prayer and fasting, that is why I have “CEO: Jesus Christ” in the bio of IAMBECAUSEHEIS.
I wanted to focus IAMBECAUSEHEIS on breaking down difficult topics of Christianity into simple steps.
My hope is that Christians affirm their identity to “Who God Says They Are” and not what the world thinks they are.
Here’s a thread that helps you understand your identity in Christ!
Our Purpose -Pursue God
I think that I'm living out both my calling and purpose, but not at the scale that I should be. Recently, God has been revealing to me I have more gifts in me that I am not aware of, but I know I am on the right track.
If you’re reading this and you’re feeling confused, low or just uncertain about Gods purpose and plan for your life, I would encourage you to not only be intimate with God in prayer, but to find your identity in Christ through reading the Word of God.
