Am I where God wants me to be?

This year has been a difficult and trying time. More than a few times this year I have found myself asking am I where God wants me to be?

I've been asking a lot of whys.

Why am I where I am in life?

Why am I in this city?

Why am I working at this job?

Why certain people in my life and others are aren’t?

There are so many times in my life that I’ve thought this and questioned if I was meant to be somewhere else instead.

But the thing is God has us right where He wants us.

God is working behind the scenes

For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14)

When Esther was brought into King Ahasuerus’ kingdom I’m sure she was confused and didn’t understand why she was in this position. Like us, she didn’t know why God had her in this place.

She didn’t see how she could glorify God and help her people in this position. Even more importantly, she didn’t see how God had planned her life so perfectly to get her to this point. God was working behind the scenes in her life, and He does the same thing with us.

Trust in Gods plan

Listen. God is so intentional. Our duty as Christians is to pray for His will and believe that it is being done.  Stop worrying about where you should or could be in life. You are in the place you are right this minute because it is exactly where God wants you to be. God places us in situations and places where He knows we can glorify Him the most with our unique personalities and experiences. He knows where we need to be in order to have impact on those around us. So live large for God right wherever you are and let Him move you- or not- in His perfect timing.

Have you ever doubted Gods planning or timing? Share your experiences below. You never know who it’ll encourage.

My favorite quote is “Have Courage and Be Kind” and my favorite chapter in the Bible is Psalm 46. That Psalm has helped me through a lot of difficult times, and it reminds me that God is our refuge.
